Seniors Join in Prayer at Annual Baccalaureate Mass
Seniors and their families joined in prayer on Thursday evening for the annual Baccalaureate Mass. Coming together at the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola one final time before graduation, members of the Class of 2023 readied themselves for life beyond Regis, all while looking back at their high school journeys and their accomplishments.
Rev. Christopher J. Devron, SJ, served as the principal celebrant of the Mass and was joined on the altar by Rev. Arthur C. Bender, SJ, ’67, Rev. James P. Ferus, SJ, and guest clergy from students’ parishes.
"If your Jesuit education, if your Regis education, has any value," said Fr. Devron in his homily, "it will be found in how you answer Jesus’ question, 'Do you love me?' and how you make your love known to those who are hungry, to those who are waiting to be fed, for they are waiting for you."
During the Mass, each senior was invited to the altar to receive his St. John Francis Regis medal. Bestowed by students' faculty advisors, the medal serves as the penultimate token of a Regian's high school career.
The 106th Graduation Exercises celebrating the Regis Class of 2023 will take place on Saturday, June 3, at the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola at 11 a.m. ET. To watch the ceremony live, visit regis.org/livestream.
