Indoor Track and Field Team Wins CHSAA Championship
Regis's indoor track and field team won its second consecutive CHSAA A Division Championship last weekend at the Armory in Washington Heights.
Regis was fueled by exceptional performances in the various competitions including James Stappenbeck '25's first place finish in the 1600-meter and 3200-meter races. Stappenbeck's finish of 4:20.51 in the 1600-meter placed him more than 25 seconds ahead of the competition and is the second-fastest time in school history. Michael Kang '26 extended his unbeaten streak for the season and took home first place in shotput, while Robert Johnston '25 placed first in the triple jump.
"It's great to see the team perform so well when I know the effort that they put into their events," said Mr. Christopher Febles, one of Regis's track and field coaches. "With all the work they have to do to be a varsity athlete at Regis, it is testament to their effort when the athletes perform as well as they did."
Individuals in each event earned points towards their team's total. Regis tallied 69 points, 27 more than the second-place finisher.
