Regians Travel to Costa Rica for Ecological Research
A contingent of students and faculty members traveled to Costa Rica during Easter break for Regis's annual conservation and ecology trip. The group of 35, led by science teacher Dr. Allan Powe '86, began their week-long journey in San José, then traveled to the country’s Pacific Coast. There, the group aided in the conservation of mangrove trees in the Manuel Antonio National Park and at a nearby crocodile farm.
The group then traveled to the Arenal region of northwest Costa Rica, where they experienced the diverse landscape of waterfalls, lakes, and rainforests. The students and faculty members also took part in a cultural exchange day, meeting with students and community members from the region. Upon returning to San José, the group toured a coffee plantation, seeing firsthand the procedure of growing and processing coffee beans.
