Varsity Basketball Team To Defend City Championship

The Regis Varsity team's trip to the city championship comes on the heals of an impressive 75-60 semifinal victory over St. John's Prep on Sunday evening. The team was energized in that game by junior guard Conor Peterson '16 and his 18 second quarter points. Peterson finished the game with 24 points, while senior forward Charles Gavigan '15 added 12.
Regis advanced into the semifinal round after earning first place in the division's regular season. It was the first time Regis has finished the regular season in first place since 2007.
Regis and Salesian, who entered the playoffs as the #2 seed, are 1-1 against each other this season, with each team earning a victory on their home court.
A contingent of Regis students, parents, and alumni will be in attendance on Friday to cheer on Regis as they compete for back-to-back championship titles. Tip-off at the Fordham University Rose Hill Gym is scheduled for 6:00pm. Game tickets can be purchased at the door for $10 each.
