Music Director Receives Louis Botto Award
Vince Peterson, Regis’s Music Director, was recently named the 2018 recipient of the Louis Botto Award for Innovative Action and Entrepreneurial Zeal. Given periodically by Chorus America, the nation’s premier organization supporting the advance of choral music today, the Louis Botto Award recognizes a mid-career choral leader for his or her exceptional work in developing a professional choral ensemble.
Louis Botto, the award’s namesake, founded and directed the internationally successful vocal ensemble Chanticleer—one of many groups that have performed Mr. Peterson’s arrangements and compositions. Rather than his compositional achievements, however, it was primarily Mr. Peterson’s founding of Choral Chameleon that the Botto Award recognized. This “groundbreaking choral ensemble,” as Chorus America’s announcement described it, has in the thrilling ten years since its establishment focused on expanding the boundaries of choral music.
