Dreams Come True for Varsity Track at the Disney Cross Country Classic
Earlier in October, the Varsity Cross Country team earned top spot in the Disney Cross Country Classic held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Walt Disney World (Orlando, Florida).
In doing so, the 2013 Regis Varsity Cross Country team became the fourth Regis varsity team in six competitions at this meet to earn a "Mickey Mouse" trophy, and only the second Regis varsity team to take first place. The 2006 squad was the last Regis team to earn a first place finish at this tournament.
In an impressive showing, Regis athletes finished in five of the first 18 places, and were among seven of the top 50 runners in a race featuring close to 200 competitors.
Stellar individual performances were turned in by Sean Phillips '15, who earned 3rd place, and Walter Abrams '14 and Brian Dobkowski '14 who both earned individual medals as well.
